When we say Desert Companion is one of the best magazines out there, we're just not bragging - industry experts agree with us.

Desert Companion won a coveted Maggie Award May 7 in Los Angeles, where the publication was named Best Quarterly/Consumer Magazine by the Western Publishing Association.

The city/regional magazine published by Nevada Public Radio beat out five other nominees in the category, including Women and California magazine. We were also a finalist in three other categories: Best Editorial/Layout, Best Series of Editorial Photographs, and Best Cover. Our 2010 win is the second Maggie in as many years for Desert Companion, which also won Best Quarterly/Consumer in 2009.

Desert Companion will become a monthly magazine in 2011, further reflecting Nevada Public Radio's goal of giving Southern Nevada the thought-provoking, beautifully designed regional magazine it deserves.
